CHANGE YOUR APPROACH FOR BETTER OUTCOMES

ILA 102 WOMEN’S-ONLY CLASS
JULY/AUGUST 2024

In the first Implementation Leadership Academy, you were introduced to your work leading organizational change in the justice system. Now, in ACJI’s new follow-up Academy, 102, you will dig deep into how you create and address adaptive challenges — those big, people-centered, uncertain problems that are inevitable in any organization.

By participating in this 8-week virtual class you will:

  • Receive tools and strategies to identify, diagnose, and solve adaptive problems
  • Work in a small group and build a network of support with women leaders across the country
  • Be paired with an ACJI coach for journaling and a 1:1 coaching session to advance toward your leadership goals

The curriculum for the Women’s 102 Class is the same as all other 102 classes. However, research shows that women-only learning environments can provide a safe space for discussing sensitive topics, sharing experiences, and addressing adaptive challenges in unique and responsive ways.

This advanced course is only open to those who have completed ACJI’s introductory Implementation Leadership Academy. If you haven’t yet participated in that class, you can learn more here.

In this follow-up program, you will engage in a similar format as the Implementation Leadership Academy (eight weeks, virtual, multimodal learning, and collaborative), but the content is more advanced and tailored to break down adaptive challenges.

While you will be able to complete the webinars and homework activities during times that work best for you, make sure to check out the schedule for the 90-minute live Zoom sessions and mark these dates/times on your calendar! Live sessions are interactive with a focus on discussion with your cohort members and the ACJI team.

A typical week in ILA 102: Leading in the Adaptive Space will take about three hours of your time to complete journaling, homework, and the live session. Two weeks prior to the first live session, registered participants will receive an email from ACJI staff with the credentials to log in to the virtual platform. Please note that purchases are non-refundable, but if a situation arises where you are unable to attend on these dates, you can attend a future class. Please contact info@acji.org to arrange a transfer.

“Women are historically underrepresented in leadership, especially in corrections. The Advanced Women’s Academy gives the space for women to learn new ways of implementation while practicing their new leadership skills in a safe space. In a women-only group, you have the potential to go deeper, starting from a similar place.”  –Danelle Gorra, Project Manager, MN Dept of Corrections

“Similar to best practices in doing treatment, being gender-responsive may play a role when you are aiming for achieving change.”  -Joselyn López, POGS Operations Director/Interstate Compact Administrator, WI Department of Corrections

“The demands on working mothers is just different than being a working father. Not that either is better or worse, society just places different expectations and demands on traditional gender roles. The parents in the group connected over that shared experience. It was very powerful to learn from other leaders how they achieved balance.”  -Amanda Milligan, District Director, Second District of the Iowa Department of Corrections
