DR. POWELL AT A GLANCE

Drawing from 15+ years of experience in human service work, Dr. Nicholas Powell formulates and oversees strategies that improve criminal justice outcomes while reducing the negative consequences of the legal system. Most notably, he developed the Person-Centered Supervision (PCS) Model for improving service delivery in probation and parole agencies. PCS promotes success by recognizing people as unique individuals with distinct strengths, needs, and goals. In other words, it’s a conceptual framework for implementing evidence-based principles.

Dr. Powell is also an Adjunct Professor of Criminology at Georgia Southern University. He has published several research articles on the intersection of community supervision and contextual factors, such as addiction and mental illness. Combining practical experience with academic research, Nick uses his signature 12-step strategic planning process to help public service agencies improve their overall performance.

At ACJI, Nick guides strategic planning efforts using implementation science and practical metrics for accountability and progress.
